Hare Nazarlik
Created for the Museum of Witchcraft in collaboration with its director and my dear friend, Simon Costin, the Hare Nazarlik brings together two subjects that have fascinated me for many years: the witch lore surrounding Isobel Gowdie and the protective amulets of Anatolia.
Initially conceived as a realistic sculpture of a hare, the piece gradually evolved into a magical object inspired by traditional Anatolian nazarlık. Mirrors, beads, cowrie shells and carefully selected found objects each add their own layer of symbolism and protection.
The Hare Nazarlik is displayed in the museum window against an oak tree covered with hand-printed leaves created by Simon.
